EBSCO A-to-Z®
with MARC Updates
Some libraries use a list of
e-resources (like EBSCO’s A-to-Z product) as a supplement to the
library catalog. Many also prefer to include this information in
their online catalog. The somewhat fluid nature of e-content makes
manually cataloging the titles impractical. Even with various
vendors providing MARC (Machine Readable Cataloging) files and lists
of titles with links, creating the automated or semi-automated
processes of loading these files is daunting. EBSCO offers a
solution to this problem by adding a MARC record service to the
A-to-Z product.
A-to-Z customers can elect
to receive a MARC file of their electronic holdings on a monthly
basis by subscribing to EBSCO's A-to-Z with MARC Updates Service.
This service acts as a single and comprehensive source of MARC
cataloging, allowing libraries to easily include virtually all their
e-content in their catalog. Whether the library is considering using
separate records for e-content or merging e-content links with print
records, the data from EBSCO can greatly simplify this process.
